One paragraph just isn’t enough to describe who I am. Instead, I’ll tell you what I do: I have been in school for the past five years, pursuing a nursing degree. People always ask,”Are you STILL in school?!” Yes, I am. Some nursing degrees take 2 years; mine is going to take 9. I went back to school at the age of 33 and I am still not done yet. Some days I wish I was; some days I am grateful for the environment and all the information, opportunities, and great people I know through education. I am working towards a Masters degree in Advanced Practice Registered Nursing, specializing in Gero-Psych.I would like to have my own practice someday and do that outside of the United States. I like traveling, and have provided health care in Central America, as well as spending time with other health professionals in Thailand this year when I visited Chiang Mai. Disparities in healthcare is an important, distressing issue to me, and I want to help bridge that gap in any way I can when I finally graduate from nursing school. I am happily married to the love of my life and am also busy raising my fiercely independent 15 year old son. I am also a craftster, photographer, and animal lover-we have 2 old cranky cats. 2 miniature pinschers, and 2 bunnies. This year, we will also start a chicken coop and beekeeping. I grew up in the suburbs but I am a countrygirl in spirit.
